Inspired by a calculator seen in a fabric store with an MSRP of $39.99, iQuilt leverages the flexibility provided by the iPhone/iPod Touch platform to provide a simple to use calculator interface at first. Flip to the Quilt Dimensions page and change the design of the quilt: what size blocks will you use, what are the various dimensions? Adding a border? Go to the quilt dimensions page, select the border width from the quilt regions selection in the drop-down box. Once youre done, click on the yardage button for calculations of how much yardage youll need, how many strips youll have to cut, and how wide those strips will need to be.
iQuilt works in whatever units you choose, with default settings of 40" for fabric width and 1/4" for seam width. Any dimensions you change will be saved for the next time you use the application.
iQuilt will display its results using metric measurements when the fabric width is in metric.
If youre out shopping for fabric for your next project, you dont have to worry about having your measurements on hand with you, just pull out your phone and open iQuilt. With physical calculators costing 10 times as much as were offering iQuilt for, it is certainly one app that needs to be in every quilters tool set
